Marshland Lassoing a Cure with Cancer for Relay for Life

In February, Marshland kicked off their fundraising efforts for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. Teams were formed in Glynn and McIntosh Counties to walk in the Relay and to participate in the events scheduled in Glynn County for the night of April 20, 2007 and in McIntosh County for the night of May 4.

Fundraising began initially with Friday “Jean Days.”Employees paid $5 to wear jeans each Friday beginning February 2nd up until the day of the Relay for Life event. In addition, each department in the credit union sponsored a separate fundraiser. In keeping with Marshland’s Relay for Life theme of “We’re Gonna’ Lasso a Cure for Cancer,” tellers offered members the opportunity to donate $1 or $5 to put up a personalized paper boot or hat in the credit union lobby. Other fundraisers included Member Service and Collection departments ’Valentine’sDay Flower, Balloon and Bake Sale which raised more than $400. The Loan department held a St. Patrick’s Day Hot Dog Sale and the Accounting, Human Resource and IT departments held a yard sale in early April, both of which were immensely successful.

Glynn County Relay for Life Team Captain, Nanci Smith said, “I have been so impressed and gratified with the immense outpouring of support for Relay for Life from both my coworkers and the Marshland members.”Jodie Drury, McIntosh County Relay for Life Team Captain, has a very special reason for her participationin the event. Jodie was diagnosed with melanoma cancer in 2005. Today, she is a two year survivor. She said “It’smore important now than ever to support Relay for Life, and I encourage everyone to join in the Fight Against Cancer. Today, thanks to cancer research funded by the American Cancer Society, two out of three people diagnosed with cancer survive five years or more, compared to 20 years ago when only one in three survived.”

Please join Marshland as we walk for Relay for Life. Remember the dates: April 20th inGlynn County at the fairgrounds and May 4th in McIntosh County at the Outlet Mall. Donations are also accepted at any of our branches.

Enhanced Security for Home Banking

In an effort to protect our members against identity theft, Marshland has implemented a new log-on security process called multi-factor authentication. Multi-factor authentication requires more than one method for validating your identity and authenticating your access to electronic services such as Internet banking.

In addition to your Log-on ID and Security Code, the system recognizes your computer and usage patterns. When you enroll in multi-factor authentication, you will establish a series of challenge questions and answers. If a questionable log-on attempt is detected, the system will require you to answer one of the challenge questions before allowing access.

At Marshland, your safety and security is a top priority to us. If you have any questions about multi-factor authentication, please call the credit union at (912) 279-2000.
